What’s one of the highlights of being a fempreneur?
It has to be the support I’ve received from other fempreneurs. It’s like a sisterhood!
Why is organic skincare so important to you?
Being from the Caribbean, I have seen first-hand the damage commercial fertilizers had on the environment (flora and fauna) and also to the health of the farmers. I would not want any part of that toxicity in my food, on my body or that of our customers, neither do I want to participate in encouraging that practice.
What is your favourite product from the range?
Every product in the range was designed to be a favourite and mine is always on rotation. I’m currently favouring the Humble Warrior because it is so versatile. I use it as a cleanser, hair treatment, body oil, massage oil, cuticle oil, I even use a few drops on my body brush.
What are your wellbeing ‘must haves’?
Turmeric and garlic in everything I eat and going out in nature at least once a week.
What motivated you to create your fab brand?
In three words: Good quality food!
The brand was born from a desire to feed my skin the same high quality ingredients I was eating.
Through a health condition, I learnt about the benefits of using good quality food ingredients. Using food as medicine was reminiscent of childhood teachings from my herbalist grand aunt Mano. Whilst there was ‘clean skincare’ on the market it was a lot of greenwashing and none were formulated using the high quality, unrefined ingredients I wanted. If I found anything close, the packaging would look like something you may find at a farmers market. There was and still is a growing movement by farmers returning to traditional farming practices for a higher quality product. I saw a gap in the market to formulate skincare, using traditional methods which extracted the full spectrum of nutrients from the highest quality ingredients, packaged and delivered luxuriously.
